I really hope you're wrong, but I fear that you are correct. As for Congress, both Houses are filled with idiots who care nothing about America. We elected those fools to work for us. I didn't vote for this.
Are they planning to take up all the doge cuts and implement them? It’s so huge. And no help at all from one half of the govt who just wants to destroy!
We had a viable Republic until the Civil War. Despite its shortcomings, we generally prospered at the expense of select groups of citizens. The war changed that, gave opportunists an opening gambit to alter the field towards bringing the rewards of production into a smaller group of citizens that soon became codified in law as the Democrat party – those who wanted to maintain the prior pre-bellum statis quo – saw the means to take revenge on the North for their losses.
What we have now in DC is the result of 160 years of political meddling with the economics of our great National gifts to the benefit of those in places of power and influence.
Make no mistake believing that this debacle, having taken place over more than half of our National History, can be overcome in one or two terms of any Administration. If such is at all even possible it's going to take generations.
I agree with many that a Convention of States be called under the authority of article 5 of the U.S. Constitution to hold congress to a budget and limit them by term limits so no one becomes as a king for their home state.
Common sense is a rare and skittish animal in any government building. Those elected officials who did arrive with that elusive quality are immediately taken into some dingy basement where it is beaten out of them and replaced with party doctrine. There is a popular meme with a quote attributed to Hillary Clinton where if she goes down she will take half of Washington with her. I fear the problems with this quote are, the percentage is grossly understated and the geography is to narrow an area. For this reason, until the first space alien, with no ties to anybody on earth, gets elected the swamp will never get drained. Draining the swamp to expose those blue eyed swamp creatures will also leave the red eyed swamp dwellers exposed as well. Until a space alien or somebody with a good case of dementia is in charge the swamp dimensions may waver but the center of it will be dangerous enough to mire the most advanced swamp buggy available
