The world is cutting every cord upon which it can get its scissors. Because OBVIOUSLY wireless is - all else being close-to-equal - better than wired.
Why Is Wireless Everything Finally Becoming Reality, and What Does It Mean for You?:
“Explore how wireless technology is replacing cables across charging, audio, networks, homes, and cars, transforming how we live and work.”
Speaking of networks….
U.S. Wireless Data Traffic Hit Record High in 2024:
“Americans used a record 132 trillion megabytes of wireless data in 2024, a sharp increase from the previous year.”
Think that “sharp increase” was an anomaly? Neither do I. It was 100.1 trillion megabytes in 2023. 73.7 in 2022. 53.0 in 2021….
You get the idea. The annual jumps - will almost certainly continue to grow ever larger. (Artificial Intelligence [AI], anyone?)
Why is everyone going wireless? Because in addition to the convenience, the technological advancements are making it not only possible - but preferable.
Behold the Fifth Generation (5G) wireless network…:
“With 5G, users can expect download speeds of up to 20 Gbps, which is 20 times faster than 4G LTE.”
And as if that ain’t enough? Here comes 6G…:
“6G is predicted to provide theoretical maximum speeds up to 100 times faster than 5G.”
So we’re moving everything Internet to wireless. Because duh. Which explains this….
Over 1 Million Americans Ditch Cable TV Internet in 2024, Signaling Rise of ‘Cord Cutting 2.0’:
“‘Cord Cutting 2.0’ signals a broader revolt against cable’s internet dominance, driven by rising prices, dissatisfaction with service, and viable alternatives like 5G home internet and fiber-optic networks.”
Will things be turning back around for wired in 2025? What do you think…?:
“(L)ess than half of cord cutters - 42.7% - now rely on cable TV providers for their home internet, a steep drop from 51.1% in 2023. This seismic shift highlights a growing exodus from traditional cable internet services, driven by the rise of fiber, 5G home internet, and alternative providers….”
And of course, even the cord Internet providers tacitly admit wireless is really the way to go. What’s the first thing a cord provider does after hooking up your house to their hardline? They set up your home wi-fi (wireless) network.
With the ridiculously fast cellular speeds now available - and the even more ridiculously fast speeds very soon to come? It’s no wonder nigh everyone is now skipping the wired middlemen altogether.
Everyone, that is, except government. Because government is just that stupid.
And here’s a fun fact: The US private sector finished connecting…pretty much everyone to the Internet in 2015. We know this - because then-President Barack Obama took a victory lap about it.
And Obama knew it was thanks to wireless….
98 Percent of Americans Are Connected to High-Speed Wireless Internet:
“‘Four years ago, I set a national goal to provide 98 percent of Americans with high-speed wireless Internet so that any young scientist or entrepreneur could access the world’s information,’ the President said. ‘Today, I can announce that we have achieved that goal, and we did it ahead of schedule.’”
The average wireless speed in 2015 was 10 Mbps. The average wireless speed in 2025 is 155.5 Mbps. Or more than 15 times faster.
So why are state governments in 2025 being this stupid…?:
“States are showing fiber is still king in their plans for the $42.5 billion Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program….
“Louisiana and Virginia intend to dole out roughly 80% of BEAD money to fiber broadband providers….”
Fiber service is far less convenient. But it makes up for it - by being FAR more expensive…:
“(Starlink) pointed to locations it thought it should have won: those where cost came in 10 times the cost of the lowest offer and those that on average cost more than $10,000 to connect….”
That’s $10,000…per household. Now THAT’S dumb.
The dumbness is deep. And it is nationwide….
Fiber Still in Line for Two-Thirds of BEAD Locations
Isn’t government great?
Oh: And never mind the fact that the BEAD program has already been a titanic disaster for years….
Kamala 'Broadband Czar' Update: Still Zero People Connected by $42+ Bil Gov Program:
“On November 15, 2021, President Joe Biden signed the bipartisan, woefully misnamed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
“Contained within that monstrosity - was $42.25 billion for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program….
“As of September 18, 2024 - the BEAD program had still connected zero people.”
Yet another year later? And states are STILL screwing around with the (mostly fiber) bids.
And lest we forget: Never mind the fact that nigh everyone was connected to the Internet a decade ago.
Which means the entirety of BEAD - and all the many other government connectivity programs - are a titanic waste of time and money.

Isn’t government great?
If only it were possible to cut the government cord….
