If You Liked the Green New Deal - You’ll Love The Internet New Deal
LOTS of Power Trips
The new wave of Democrats - with media darling New York Congressman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) in the lead - are fully Socialist. And even more Reality-and-math-challenged than their immediate Democrat predecessors.
And that’s saying something.
AOC is a Democrat Socialist. She says so.
Newly re-minted Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is…a little crazy. And crazy radical.
But Pelosi is crazy and crazy radical - she ain’t AOC crazy and crazy radical. Or more realistically - Pelosi is at least somewhat politically pragmatic.
Pelosi and many of her legacy Democrats - and by “legacy” we mean anyone elected prior to 2018 - are now having to spend a lot of their time trying to refill the toothpaste tube…upon which AOC and Company are fervently jumping.
Because insanity keeps shooting out and all over them - and us. And Pelosi is understandably concerned the mess the Young Turks are making - threatens their new House Majority and any hope for electoral wins in 2020.
“‘It will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive,’ Pelosi told Politico on Wednesday. ‘The green dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it right?’”
Now that’s a pretty chilly response.
Pelosi is right to be worried - for another reason.
Pelosi knows most of her Party - is WAY out there on the WAY Left with AOC.
And Pelosi fears AOCs incessant airtime, mindless enthusiasm and her Pez-dispensing Communism - will coax more and more Democrats out of “moderate” hiding. And into the bright light of full-on, unapologetic Socialism-Communism - they all long to fully embrace.
The current chair of the Democrat National Committee (DNC) is Tom Perez. Who is unbelievably radical. And he long ago embraced the Democrat Socialist openness AOC is inspiring.
AOC is in fact a Democrat Socialist. She says so. And the head of the Party - says she is the future of the Party.
Well, to quote former Washington Redskins Coach George Allen: “The future is now.”
Ask yourself: Is the Party’s voter base, their enthusiasm and energy on Pelosi’s side - or AOCs?
Pelosi’s concerns were yet again realized on Sunday’s “Fox News Sunday” - on which Perez appeared. He had to spend a good deal of time trying to slough off assertions the Party is Socialist-Communist - without actually denying the Party is Socialist-Communist.
If you’re explaining - you’re losing.
Another Party member excitedly enticed way out on AOCs skinny limb - is Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey.
The Senate’s Majority Leader - Kentucky Republican Mitch McConnell - very helpfully offered to fast track Markey’s bill for a vote. So as to get a sense of the Senate - where each member is on this particular raft of Democrat Socialism.
Markey’s reaction was…not that of someone who thinks his bill is good news for his Party.
If you think Markey sounds confused - it’s only because he is.
He is confused by the fact a strong majority of Americans - do not think unilaterally crippling the American energy sector is a particularly good idea.
Nevertheless, Markey is loving his AOC-inspired newfound freedom - to propose taking more and more of our freedom.
So Markey is looking to cripple more than just the energy sector. Behold his Internet New Deal.
Oh - since we’re kicking around “New Deal” so much:
“The New Deal was a series of programs launched by Franklin D. Roosevelt during his presidency. The New Deal was Roosevelt's way to solve the problems caused by the Great Depression….”
Except “Roosevelt’s way to solve the problems caused by the Great Depression” - did absolutely nothing of the sort.
Yet today’s Democrat Socialists - are happily re-embracing the name. And the REALLY awful government hyper-activity.
What do Markey and his Democrat Socialists want to do to the Internet?
“Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) said he would ‘soon’ introduce a bill to permanently reinstate the net neutrality rules that were repealed by the Federal Communications Commission, led by chairman Ajit Pai, in 2017.”
Here the Democrat Socialists are even more New Deal-y than you think.
They are looking to impose landline telephone law - on to the Internet. Law that passed…in 1934. Smack dab in the middle of FDR’s failed New Deal and their prolonged Great Depression.
Yes, by all means - let’s bring back the Democrat Party-imposed Roaring Thirties. Let’s flash forward nearly a century - and ridiculously attempt to impose Great Depression law upon the 21st Century Internet.
From a tech perspective - this makes ZERO sense.
The World Wide Web - is orders-of-magnitude more intricate, complex and complicated than the landline telephone network.
Government constricting the private sector Web all the way down to landline phone line-size - so as to fit it into the massive slate of regulations - is to kill the private sector Web.
Which means from an economic perspective - Markey’s Internet New Deal makes ZERO sense.
Unless you’re a Democrat Socialist:
“Democratic socialists hold that capitalism is inherently incompatible with what they hold to be the democratic values of liberty, equality and solidarity; and that these ideals can only be achieved through the realization of a socialist society.
“Democratic socialism can be supportive of either revolutionary or reformist politics as a means to establish socialism.”
The AOC-Markey Green New Deal - is a Democrat Socialism revolution.
And will kill the private energy sector. Which is the point - right, Barack Obama?
Markey’s Internet New Deal - is a Democrat Socialist revolution.
And will kill the private sector Internet. Which is the point - right, Democrat Socialist Robert McChesney?:
“(T)he battle over network neutrality is not to completely eliminate the telephone and cable companies. We are not at that point yet. But the ultimate goal is to get rid of the media capitalists in the phone and cable companies and to divest them from control.”
All of which sounds really good - right, Democrat Socialist California Senator Kamala Harris?
A “litmus test” - and yet another Democrat Socialist revolution.
Lather, rinse - repeat.
