Let’s Rollback Bad Government - At All Levels. Because the Emperors Have No Clothes
Parading Through Governments Everywhere
We have dubbed the Trump ascendancy to the presidency the Reality Revolution. For decades the Washington, D.C. Establishment Emperor walked around stark naked. And none of the Establishment Emperor’s Courtiers would point out his “clothes” weren’t clothes - because they were making too much coin pretending they were.
Decades of DC failures - dubbed “successes” by DC’s denizens - have resulted in $20 trillion in debt, nearly $300 trillion in unfunded liabilities for government program “successes” - and thousands and thousands of agencies and programs that are complete wastes of space, effort and coin, that nevertheless live on (and on, and on, and….)
We the People have all along seen (and been repulsed by) the Establishment Emperor’s nakedness. And have all along seen (and been repulsed by) the Establishment Emperor’s Courtiers playing along and cashing in.
Then, finally, along comes Trump - who matter-of-factly said “Hey, that guy is naked.” We the People were so thrilled - we rewarded him with the presidency. Thus far, for the most part, he isn’t disappointing.
Trump is declaring a nude a nude - and massively rolling back bad government: “(T)he blueprint being used by Trump’s team would reduce federal spending by $10.5 trillion over 10 years.”
Oh look - another rollback: “Trump’s tax proposal…would significantly reduce marginal tax rates on individuals and businesses, increase standard deduction amounts to nearly four times current levels, and curtail many tax expenditures. His proposal would cut taxes at all income levels….”
Oh look - yet another rollback: “Trump…said he is cutting regulations governing companies by 75 percent or more.”
Please keep them coming, Mister President.
Of course, Washington, D.C. is in no way the only place where a government Emperor is parading around naked - demanding we praise his outfit. Governments all over should be subject to the Reality Revolution.
To wit - New York State: “Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a unilateral mass expansion of government - in the name of fighting global warming…oops, I mean climate change: ‘The state’s Public Service Commission (PSC)…passed a new set of standards that by 2030 is supposed to ensure that half of New York’s energy needs are met by renewable methods, ranging from solar and wind, as well as hydro and nuclear power.’”
Unilateral executive action by Democrat Andrew Cuomo. How very Barack Obama of him.
And…wait - what? HALF of all energy from renewables? The man proposing that - appears to be inordinately naked: “That is a very lofty goal. In fact, nigh unreachable: ‘As of 2015, New York only generated 11% of its energy via renewables. A tally it has taken them decades - and tens of billions of subsidy dollars - to attain. And now they have mandated a nearly 500% increase - in only fifteen years. Predicated, again, upon energy sources that require massive, ongoing government cash infusions -– and in most instances take more energy to produce than they provide.’”
Where will the Naked Emperor get the copious coin for all of this nakedness? From you, of course: “That’s where the new taxes come in: ‘(T)he Public Service Commission also included a new (energy) tax worth $8 billion.’ Get that? The unelected PSC unilaterally raised taxes by $8 billion – without any participation by the people’s elected officials in the state legislature.”
Unilateral taxation by Democrat Andrew Cuomo. How very Barack Obama of him.
But the Reality Revolution has arrived. New York State - from Governor Cuomo on down - should surrender to Reality:
“(T)he state’s legislature should pass actual legislation that returns these sorts of things to the state’s legislature - where they belong. Law that clearly delineates the roles for every executive branch agency - demarcated lines and tasks, with absolutely zero bureaucrat wiggle room. No more flights of regulatory fancy on the part of this agency or that - totally untethered to any actual statute…
“(T)here is no way any executive branch should be able to raise taxes all by itself. Sadly, in governments all over the place - executive branches are. New York’s legislature should pass actual legislation that forbids any executive branch agency from unilaterally raising taxes. The power of the purse - both spending and taxing - belongs with the legislature.
“And there is more New York can do. New York’s elected officials are apparently working thereon. In the meantime, Cuomo, Inc. should completely repeal its energy inanity.”
To the very many government Emperors strutting their stuff - in DC, in New York and all around the nation - We the People say “Put some clothes on.”
